My long time friends in Bowling For Soup made a tour stop at the Marquis Theater on Thursday night. I’ve known these guys since college back in Denton, TX. I am so proud of them for making music their careers. It is so hard to do these days and very few bands survive their first few years in the local scene, much less graduating to major labels, global tours, Grammy nominations, and surviving the music industry meltdown. I always enjoy the conversations I have with Jaret (to my left) about the music biz and his role in it. He is very smart about his approach, while the band still enjoys performing and hamming it up on stage. They have come through Denver 4 times since Ive moved here and it’s always great to see them and catch up on each others lives. Jaret asked me… “Have you done that crazy impossible race yet?” I laughed and told him it was next week. These guys, like most of my friends from my “previous chapters” in life, still have trouble picturing me attempting such a feat… Considering they’ve always known me as the late-night-drinking-performing-club-hound that I was. Exercise was not a word in my vocabulary.
Speaking of which… Looking at this picture makes me feel INCREDIBLY skinny… I mean, I know I’m thin, and I’ve lost even more weight in training, but sandwiched between the hefty BFS guys really accentuates that fact. If you are into fun, hilarious, pop, punk music, you should check out my friends at their website.
